Robinson Preserve
The Robinson Preserve is 679 acres of environmentally protected land. This land consists of coastal grasslands, saltern, marsh, and mangroves. Many different types of both common and rare wildlife can be seen around the entire preserve.
There are also many plants, trees, and other vegetation to be found at the Robinson Preserve. The best way to see these various sights is to walk or bike along the seven different trails available for public use at the park. There is also the well-known observation tower, several beautiful bridges that stretch over waterways, and even a few boardwalks.
At the main entrance of the Robinson Preserve you’ll find the light blue, Victorian style house called the “Valentine House”. The house is the oldest in Manatee County and was built in 1886 near the Manatee Fruit Company in Palmetto. It was owned by the Preston Family, owners of the Manatee Fruit Co., for decades. In 2007 it was moved across the river by barge to the Robinson Preserve and is now used as a visitor and information center.
In addition to all these things to see at the Robinson Preserve, there’s a playground near the main entrance, plenty of places to catch fish, and a few kayak or canoe launches. It’s one of my favorite places to visit in Manatee County to relax and take photos of the various sights.
